Active and Tranquil Healthy living and a close
relationship with nature are core values of Culpepper Landing.
This development, unlike a traditional suburban subdivision,
will offer a variety of natural recreational amenities which
will appeal to residents with both active and
tranquil lifestyles. Located on the shores of the Great Dismal
Swamp Canal, Culpepper Landing will provide residents with access
to all of the many activities which take place along the Intracoastal
Waterway and Lake Drummond. From a leisurely day of canoeing
and recreational boating to more organized events such as the
Bonny Blue Boat Ride and Paddle for the Border, residents will
be able to take full advantage of all that the Dismal Swamp
Canal has to offer. For those who wish to keep their feet dry,
the Great Dismal Swamp Wildlife Refuge and surrounding areas
offer a variety of recreational options including hiking, biking,
and bird watching as well as facilities for camping and picnicking.
The neighborhoods of Culpepper Landing will also feature a large
assortment of open spaces, in the form of public squares and
pocket parks, providing their residents with plenty of places
to relax and enjoy the outdoors with family and friends. Whether
you’re looking for activity or tranquility, Culpepper
Landing will have the recreational diversity to cater to your
lifestyle.?
The Location
Culpepper Landing’s 488 acres lies north of the Great
Dismal Swamp National Wildlife Refuge, west of the Great Dismal
Swamp Canal and within two miles of Interstate 64. The site
is primarily farmland with an area of non-tidal wetlands towards
the west and rear of the property. With Culpepper Landing’s
eastern boundary fronting the Great Dismal Swamp Canal, and
the landing and marina, residents and visitors will enjoy a
striking visual amenity of the Intracoastal Waterway. The Waterway,
the Great Dismal Swamp National Wildlife Refuge, the proposed
regional city park across the Waterway and Highway 17, and
the nearby pedestrian/bicyclist trail on the old Highway 17
roadway offer both passive and active recreational opportunities.
